Fifth consecutive title in the mountain national for Javi Villa with BRC
The Spanish Mountain Championship of 2017 disputed its third last test on 16, 17 and 18 June in the Subida a Tamaimo. The second consecutive event of the contest on the island of Tenerife has definitely resolved the title of category 1 in favor of the Bango Racing Cars driver Javi Villa. At the wheel of the B49 ceded for the occasion by Fran Suárez, Javi won the race leading a spectacular BRC double in the overall scratch, with ‘Lolo’ Avilés occupying the second place and Jonathan Álvarez the third. In addition, Jonathan took the victory in category 2.
The triumph of Villa arrived, in addition, accompanied by a new record of the Tamaimo track, which the BRC driver established in the first official climb on Saturday. Javi was also the fastest in the other two races to finish in this way his fourth absolute victory of the season in six races, which together with the second place of Falperra and the third of the Fito proclaim him already mathematically champion of Spain of Mountain of the category 1. This is the fifth title that Javi achieves in the mountain national piloting the CM manufactured by Bango Racing Cars after those achieved in category 2 in the previous four seasons.
The second place in Tamaimo was for ‘Lolo’ Avilés that reaffirms in this way in the second place of the championship general despite the false step of the previous week in Guía de Isora. The young Andalusian driver is already very close to the second place, which would mean the double for BRC in the category 1 of the Spanish Championship.
In category 2, the title is again within the reach of Jonathan Álvarez, who achieved his fourth victory of the season in Tamaimo with the BRC B49 and, in addition, completed the podium of the overall scratch. With this new victory, the Asturian driver regains the overall leadership of the event and, in addition, depends entirely on himself to reach the title, which would be his to finish second in the two remaining tests for the conclusion of the season, the climbs of Alp, in June, and Ordino-Arcalís, in September.
Four more riders qualified at the wheel of BRCs in Tamaimo, in the fifth place of the general classification, also completing the triplet of the B49 of Bango Racing Cars in category 1, concluded the canary Gullermo Évora. Another crazy driver, Pedro Perez, was seventh and fourth in category 1 with a BRC CM05EVO. Right after, the Navarro Garikoitz Flores finished, eighth fastest and fourth in category 2 with his BRC B49. And in category 3, reserved for bodybuilders, Fran Suárez was tenth in his debut at the wheel of BRC R15.
